Short Cutz (Short Films)

Students can take this opportunity to express their dramatic moments & experiences in a short story during this programme.  The objective of this is to focus on one incident, a single plot, a single setting, a small number of characters, and covers a short period of time. At the end of the course, the stories must be able to convey a message across to viewers to grasp the moral perspective of the entire clip. Storyboarding, scriptwriting, basic production skills and video editing techniques will be covered in the programme.


MV (Music Video Production)

In this programme, students will produce & direct a music video, accompanied by a complete piece of music or song. Students will not only understand how music videos can be used as a marketing platform to promote the sales of music recordings, but also as a medium to blend different styles such as animation and live action together. Different sets of video production skill will be imparted to show them various ways & angles to produce music videos in a non-narrative approach. Students will be taught storyboarding, scriptwriting, basic production skills & video editing techniques. Copyright issues with regards to the appropriate use of music will also be discussed to create an additional edge on top of the creative skills being taught in producing the music video.


Get Real (Documentary Production)

The real purpose of documentary is to observe life & elevate the medium to a new art form, where actors are real and the scenes are original. Students will take this opportunity to produce a short documentary film, showcasing various topics such as biographies, wild nature, science, technology or even travelogue. Students will be taught storyboarding, scriptwriting, basic production skills & video editing techniques.


Trail-logy (Trailer Production)

A trailer consists of a series of selected shots from the film being promoted, with the purpose of attracting the audience to watch the original film. In this programme, students can put their ideas together to produce the most appealing trailer. Students will be taught storyboarding, scriptwriting, basic production skills & video editing techniques.


“Take 5” (Commercial Production)

Have a break, everyone! Advertising is a powerful educational & communication tool, intended to persuade viewers to purchase or buy the idea of products and services. Students will produce a short commercial clip to promote their products and also to motivate the public. Students will be taught storyboarding, scriptwriting, basic production skills & video editing techniques.


Visual effects/CGI (Special effects)

Visual effects are various processes by which imagery is created and manipulated outside the context of a live action shoot, with the purpose of creating an atmospheric feel and impact to the scene. In this programme, students will learn to integrate realistic effects such as explosions, particle sprays, pyro-techniques into real-life environments, which enable the students to understand that certain effects are impossible to capture on films due to high costs & risks. Students will also learn Chroma Keying, a technique for compositing two images or frames together in which a colour from one image is removed or made transparent, revealing another image behind it.


Couch Potatoz

What makes a film impactful & yet entertaining? This programme promotes the appreciation of film and gives a deeper insight of film as art and entertainment. Students will understand the visual elements of films & see cinema as a universal language from a whole new perspective.
